Today's Kappa Kappa Iota
A Professional Organization for Educators

 Kappa Kappa Iota is the oldest national, professional organization for educators, founded in 1921 in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Being a member of Kappa Kappa Iota is to be a part of an organization that:

  • Unites top educators from a broad cross-section of the country
  • Encourages professional and personal development through workshops, meetings and scholarships
  • Responds to the problem of child abuse and neglect
  • Provides the opportunity to develop leadership skills

National Kappa Kappa Iota is classified by the IRS as a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization and is exempt from paying annual income tax.

Kappa Kappa Iota stretches across the USA embracing thousands of members. The states in order of their charters include: Oklahoma, New Mexico, Kansas, Texas, Arkansas, Missouri, Louisiana, Alabama, Nebraska, Colorado, Georgia, Mississippi, California, Florida, Iowa, North Carolina, Arizona, Wyoming, South Carolina, Ohio, Hawaii, Tennessee, Kentucky, and Indiana. Other members are located in Maryland, Oregon, and Montana.
